On the Lake, On the Trail

From calm water and paved trails to nearby mountain towns and seasonal adventures — there's always something to do at Watson's Lakefront Resort.

From Dawn to Dusk

A Day at Watson's

Mornings start on the water — coffee on the porch, mist lifting off the lake, a kayak slipping out from the dock. Mid-day might mean a ride east on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, a drive to Old Mission State Park, or just a long swim and a book on the lawn.

Evenings end on the deck at Red's Tavern, with a plate from Louise's garden and the sun working its way down behind the pines. The trip stretches as far as you want it to: the Silver Valley to the east, Coeur d'Alene to the west, Spokane an hour beyond. Or you stay put on the dock, which is what most guests end up doing.

On the Property

The best part of staying at Watson's is what's right outside your door. Every guest, in every unit, has the run of the property.

  1. Sunrise Yoga on the Lakefront Deck

Roll out a mat on the lakefront yoga deck before the rest of the property is up — mist on the water, the loons calling, Red's open for coffee when you're done.

  2. Louise's Garden

The on-property garden that supplies Red's Tavern is open for guests to wander — raised beds of herbs, heirloom tomatoes, sunflowers, and seasonal harvests right off the vine.

  3. Fire Pits & S'mores

Every unit has an outdoor fire pit and complimentary S'mores kit — the standing invitation for stars, conversation, and the night air off the lake.

On the Water

Rose Lake is one of Northern Idaho's quieter lakes — calm, scenic, and right outside your door. A shared dock and shoreline access for every guest.

  1. Swimming & Wading

Rose Lake's calm, clear water is perfect for swimming and wading right from the property shoreline.

  2. Kayaking & Canoeing

Paddle the quiet coves and shoreline. Bring your own or ask about local rental options.

  3. Fishing

Cast from the dock or the shore. Rose Lake is home to bass, perch, and other freshwater species.

  4. Dock & Lakefront

Direct lake access from the property with a shared dock for swimming, fishing, and soaking in the view.

After a day on the water, walk over to Red's Tavern for garden-to-table dinner steps from the shore.

No. 03 · The Trail

On the Trail

Trailside lodging for one of the best paved trails in the Pacific Northwest.

The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is a 73-mile paved recreation trail stretching from Mullan to Plummer through some of Northern Idaho's most beautiful scenery. The Cataldo trailhead is minutes from the property.

The fully paved surface makes it ideal for road cyclists, casual riders, walkers, and families. Ride a section in the morning and come back to Watson's for lunch on the deck.

Looking for trailside lodging? See our Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes lodging guide — bike storage, post-ride dining, and cabins minutes from the Cataldo trailhead.
